Crabby is nervous but determined to be kind and cheerful. Soon, her worst fears materialize. Because Crabby is a decorator crab, she likes wearing odd clothes and accessories. The other sea creatures enjoy poking fun at her. Crabby manages to find one friend in Daniel who understands her predicament.
The artistic layout and bright colors of the illustrations in this book enhance the story. Vocabulary is challenging and alliteration makes this one a fun read-aloud choice. The lessons of kindness, sharing, and being true to oneself are valuable. There is a Christian focus with some Biblical references.
This book is appropriate for both elementary and early middle-school age readers.

This is a short picture book about a clownfish who is dared by Ozzie, the octopus, to dive down deep and steal a tooth from a shark in the deep.
Now Jake, the clownfish, is a joker who never refuses a challenge. When he goes down to the deep, he finds danger from and unexpected source. Will Jake survive the adventure? If he does make it back, what lessons will he bring back with him from the deep?
The pictures are a bit small and there is quite a bit of text, making it a bit of a challenging read for its intended three to five age audience. Still recommended as a read aloud or bedtime story for preschoolers and elementary school children who enjoy books about the sea.

Emilia, the mermaid, is upset because none of her mermaid friends want to search for pearls with her. She goes off in search of other mermaids, a snail and a school of fish, but none of them seem interested in her project. When a little mermaid loses her seahorse, Emma decides to search with her. As the two new friends continue on their exploration they meet other creatures of the sea. This time the two mermaids stop and listen to what these creatures have to say. They learn the valuable lesson that in seeking friendship listening is more important than seeking to impress others.
At the end of the book, the author supplies a questionnaire to assist children in assessing their own relationships. Children are presented with a list of questions to answer and activities to use that are placed in appropriate age categories. I would particularly recommend this book for beginning readers and shy children who have difficulty with peer relationships. This book has value for children of all ages.
